Prompt is seeking Associate Editors in STEM, Associate Editors in Social Science

The editors of Prompt: A Journal of Academic Writing Assignments are seeking applicants for Associate Editor positions with two-year terms. Prompt publishes college writing assignment prompts accompanied by reflective essays from instructors. It is a scholar-run, open-access, peer-reviewed online journal. All positions at Prompt are volunteer (unpaid) positions.

At this time, we are interested in recruiting at least two Associate Editors in STEM (including health sciences) and at least two Associate Editors in Social Science.

Associate Editors in STEM or Social Science should be disciplinary experts in a STEM or social science field while also having interest and expertise in how writing assignments function as sites for teaching and learning in those fields.

An Associate Editor in STEM or Social Science will assist in the editorial process for submissions that focus on writing assignments in their respective disciplinary areas. Associate Editors will be involved throughout the editorial process, starting with reviewing and providing feedback on incoming submissions. Associate Editors will work with the Editor and Managing Editor to identify reviewers for manuscripts and provide summaries of reviewer reports. They will also work with authors during the revision process.  Additionally, Associate Editors will help copyedit and proofread submissions in their field. Finally, Associate Editors will seek to publicize the journal in their field(s) in order to promote submissions and circulation of the journal.

We value diverse identities and perspectives and believe diversity is integral to the success of academic journals. We especially welcome applications from Black and Indigenous practitioner-scholars.

Review of applications will begin on September, 30, 2020. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. This announcement will be removed from our website when the application process has closed.

Applicants should submit a CV and a brief statement of interest explaining your fit for the position and your reasons for being interested in it. Please direct these materials to thepromptjournal@gmail.com. Queries about the positions may be directed to the same address.
